Water Instrumentation Specialist

Description

The Water Instrumentation Specialist performs water and lime testing along with other laboratory procedures and records and interprets the results necessary for proper operation of the well fields and treatment plants in compliance with Federal and State regulations. By utilizing complex laboratory instruments such as Gas Chromatograph (GC), Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Atomic Absorption (AA), Flow Injection Analyzer (FIA), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), and Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), the incumbent determines metal contents/levels in water samples. Instrumentation Specialists must possess thorough knowledge of the laboratory equipment and its major and minor components and be able to set-up, tear-down, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs of equipment. Through the use of personal computers and operating systems, must be able to manipulate databases, spreadsheets, graphic programs and word processing. Incumbent must possess functioning knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in order to facilitate data, searches, and quality control programs.


Electronic Electrician

Engineering Aide III

Description

The Engineering Aide III will inspect, test and maintain records of construction projects within the City's jurisdiction to ensure that work conforms to plans, specifications and standards. Responsibilities include working from city, state and private engineering firms' drawings and be in close contact with contractors and city work crews to ensure that quality work is performed. The Engineering Aide III will be required to resolve minor construction problems that are not covered by plans and specifications and work as a liaison between City engineers, contractors and architects.

Engineering Aide II

Description

The Engineering Aide II performs field data collection and surveying for topographic base-maps and as-builts. The incumbent will compose layouts, plans and profile sheets for various public works and water utility improvements. Assignments typically include the operation of both modern and traditional survey/field data collection equipment and related instruments.

 

The Engineering Aide II uses line locating equipment to locate water, sanitary and storm utilities. Responsibilities includes setting out stakes and marks to conduct a survey, searching for previous survey points, such as benchmarks, property pins or old stone markers and using GPS equipment to create and maintain records of location, size, pressures, fittings, depth, pipe types, installation dates and valve types on water and sewer mains, fire hydrants, manholes, service lines and laterals, main line valves and related water distribution and sewer collection facilities. The incumbent will also be required to prepare computer aided drafting drawings (CAD); making layout, plan and profile sheets for various public works and water utility improvements.


Water Facilities Supervisor

Description

Responsible for the review, maintenance, and documentation of all work orders for an assigned water facility. The Water Facilities Supervisor (WFS) oversees and physically assists personnel in the safe performance of maintenance on Water Treatment Plant and/or Lime Reclamation Facility equipment, buildings, vehicles, and grounds. The incumbent inspects the grounds, structures, machinery, and process equipment to detect problems, anticipate future needs, and ensure they are receiving proper care from subordinates. The WFS monitors inventory levels and assists in the development of specifications for new supplies and equipment while working with other departmental staff to prioritize and maintain a schedule of needed corrective, and preventative maintenance activities. Incumbent must maintain a thorough knowledge of administrative policies and procedures, safety policies and procedures and the operation and maintenance requirements of their assigned facility. Required to be on-call when not at work.
